Basketball Recap: Hoggard Vikings vs. Lumberton Pirates
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hoggard can now relate to. They fell 59-52 to the Lumberton Pirates on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 56-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hoggard still got an impressive performance from Will Seward, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. That's the most points Seward has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Desyn Durand, who scored 11 points.
Jaiden Shephard was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 20 rebounds for Lumberton. Shephard has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 52 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lonnie Porter, who had nine points and seven assists.
Hoggard's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Lumberton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-5.
Hoggard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lumberton, they will head out on the road to challenge Sanderson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sanderson will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Lumberton surely won't give up without a fight.
