Baseball Recap: Geneva County Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wicksburg, Geneva County was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Dale County Warriors a 3-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Warriors two weeks ago, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Caden Hutchings was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Hutchings wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JD Shepard, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Matthew Enfinger also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The victory got Geneva County back to even at 3-3. As for Dale County, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Geneva County will head out to challenge Zion Chapel at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dale County, they will host Slocomb at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Slocomb will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Dale County surely won't give up without a fight.
