Basketball Recap: Center Takes a Loss

Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 70-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sierra Grande Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-19 back in December of 2024.

Sierra Grande's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rolando Najera, who went 8-for-14 en route to 22 points along with seven boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Najera a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Aron Ojeda, who went 9-for-17 to rack up 22 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds.

Center's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Sierra Grande, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sierra Grande, they will venture away from home to take on Primero at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Primero will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Sierra Grande surely won't give up without a fight.
