Basketball Game Preview: East Lansing Trojans vs. Grand Ledge Comets

East Lansing is 9-1 against Grand Ledge since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The East Lansing Trojans will host the Grand Ledge Comets at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in East Lansing's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches.

East Lansing is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Michigan's top teams: Okemos, who was ranked 24th at the time (East Lansing was ranked third). East Lansing walked away with a 78-67 win over Okemos on Thursday.

It was another big night for Cameron Hutson, who went 10 for 21 en route to 30 points and eight rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kelvin (KJ) Torbert, Jr., who went 7 of 15 on his way to 19 points and five boards.

East Lansing smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Grand Ledge escaped with a win on Thursday against Everett by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53.

East Lansing pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Grand Ledge, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

East Lansing strolled past Grand Ledge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 63-46. Will East Lansing repeat their success, or does Grand Ledge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
