Baseball Recap: Wynford Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wynford can now relate to. They came up short against the Western Reserve Roughriders on Wednesday, falling 9-2. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Roughriders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Collin Hulsmeyer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Wynford's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Wynford has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Western Reserve, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

As of now, neither Wynford nor the Roughriders have any future games scheduled.
