Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for New Manchester

New Manchester waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Douglas County Tigers by a score of 77-64. Given the Jaguar's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Tigers are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Manchester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Delancy Alexander, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Alexander's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Micah Hines was another key player, going 8 for 15 en route to 20 points and seven boards.

New Manchester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

New Manchester is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Douglas County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

New Manchester has already played their next match, an 89-61 victory against Rome on the 28th. As for Douglas County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-47 defeat against East Coweta on the 28th.
