Softball Game Preview: St. John Paul II Falcons vs. Randolph School Raiders

The St. John Paul II Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Randolph School Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for St. John Paul II and 19 for Randolph School dating back to last season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when St. John Paul II challenged Columbia on Tuesday. St. John Paul II fell just short of Columbia by a score of 3-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 31, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Skylar Mullins put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lesly Fiero made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Randolph School came up short against Westminster Christian Academy on Tuesday, falling 11-1.

Eliza McCrary was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.

St. John Paul II's record now sits at 2-8. As for Randolph School, their record is now 0-6.

St. John Paul II skirted past Randolph School 9-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does St. John Paul II have another victory up their sleeve, or will Randolph School turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
