Basketball Recap: Nate Vereen-Burton Key Part of a Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

Burke posted their biggest victory since January 4th on Tuesday. They blew past the Columbus Discoverers 75-55. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 58-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Discoverers cut but never quite recovered from.

Burke's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Vereen-Burton, who went 6 for 15 to rack up 14 points. Ke'Vaun Roper also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Burke was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Columbus lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gavin Anderson, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Vasicek, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Burke's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Columbus, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Burke will head out to face off against Papillion-LaVista at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Burke is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season. As for Columbus, they will host Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 52.2 points per game.
