Preview: Smithtown Christian Knights vs. Shelter Island Islanders
Smithtown Christian is 9-1 against the Islanders since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Smithtown Christian Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Shelter Island Islanders at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Smithtown Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matches.
Even though Bridgehampton scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Smithtown Christian still came out on top. Smithtown Christian walked away with a 69-58 win over the Killer Bees.
Isaiah McCarter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Crilly, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Shelter Island had to suffer through a rough 74-40 loss at the hands of the Knights. Shelter Island has struggled against the Knights recently, as their matchup back in January was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Smithtown Christian pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.9 points per game. As for Shelter Island, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Smithtown Christian against the Islanders in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 74-40 win. With Smithtown Christian ahead 47-17 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
