Softball Game Preview: London Pirates vs. Ray Texans

The London Pirates will be taking part in a tournament against the Ray Texans at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

London saw some tournament action on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Los Fresnos 3-2.

Meanwhile, Ray earned a 7-4 win over College Park on Friday. That looming 7-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Texans yet this season.

Megan Saenz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Saenz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kailey Benavides, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

The victory made it two in a row for Ray and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for London, their record now sits at 6-4.

London couldn't quite finish off Ray in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 and fell 5-3. Can London avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
