Softball Recap: Saguaro Drops Highest Score of Season Against Bourgade Catholic

Saguaro hadn't done well against Bourgade Catholic recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Saguaro Sabercats walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles. The Sabercats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Malina Morones made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Morones was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Hailey Holliday was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophia Chiouinard, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Saguaro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Saguaro's record now sits at 2-6. As for Bourgade Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
