It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tonganoxie had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past the Fort Scott Tigers with a 34-28 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Chieftains who have now won four matches in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tonganoxie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Todd Brown, who picked up 178 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Brown was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 56 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Langford, who threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Tonganoxie's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Fort Scott, they moved to 6-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
