Football Recap: Williston Piles Up the Points Against Trinity Catholic

Williston won the last time they faced Trinity Catholic and things went their way on Friday too. The Red Devils blew past the Celtics 49-21. With the Red Devils ahead 28-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Williston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but J'Dyen Manneh led the charge by rushing for 126 yards and two scores on only eight carries. Manneh's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameryn Manneh, who rushed for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Williston was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 381 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Williston didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as William Whitehurst Jr, Maverick Jones, and Danny Burchett picked up one apiece. Burchett is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season.

Joey DeRiso and Carter Schofield certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. DeRiso picked up 136 receiving yards and one TD, while Schofield threw for 204 yards and one touchdown.

The win was the fourth in a row for Williston, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points over those games. As for Trinity Catholic, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Williston will head out to face off against Belleview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Rattlers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Trinity Catholic, they will be playing at home against Eau Gallie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
