Basketball Game Preview: Capital Cougars vs. Riverside Warriors

The Capital Cougars will square off against the Riverside Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverside took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Capital, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Capital needed a bit of extra time to put away Hoover. They walked away with a 60-48 victory over the Huskies. The team accrued 35 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Meanwhile, Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They came up short against Huntington, falling 68-43. The Warriors were down 53-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Capital will need to focus on slowing down Ava Ward, one of several Riverside players who made an impact when they last played. She posted nine points. That's the most points Ward has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cianna Groom, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Capital, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
