Softball Recap: Flomaton Hurricanes vs. Central Jaguars
Flomaton was the 13-0 winner over Central when they last played one another back in April of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Flomaton Hurricanes wound up on the wrong side of a tough 18-4 walloping at the hands of the Central Jaguars on Tuesday. Flomaton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kailee Herndon was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Rylee Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with a stolen base.
Even though they lost, Flomaton didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with nine strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only tossed five.
On Central's side, Tenley Smarr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. Smarr was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
In other batting news, Shelby Zigler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and a stolen base. Bri Martin was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
