Basketball Recap: Monrovia Piles Up the Points Against Indianapolis Lutheran

Monrovia won the last time they faced Indianapolis Lutheran and things went their way on Monday too. The Monrovia Bulldogs took their game with ease, bagging a 63-12 win over the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Saints are ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monrovia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zoie Walls led the charge by going 9 for 16 en route to 19 points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Walls has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emery Newlin, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 14 points and eight steals.

Monrovia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Lutheran only pulled down four offensive boards.

Monrovia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12.

Monrovia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-28 victory against South Putnam on the 22nd. Indianapolis Lutheran has also already played their next game, a 57-32 loss against Indianapolis Shortridge on the 23rd.
