Basketball Game Preview: Timpanogos Timberwolves vs. Provo Bulldogs

The Timpanogos Timberwolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Provo Bulldogs at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Timpanogos is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Cottonwood just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 49-32 bruising from the Colts. The contest marked the Timberwolves' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Provo had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they went ahead and made it nine last Friday. They really took it to the Buffaloes for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-35 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 25 points or more this season.

Provo's win came from a few key players Timpanogos will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sutton Villa, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Villa is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lydia Ibarra was another key player, going 6 for 10 on her way to 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Provo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.

Timpanogos' loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Provo, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Timpanogos might still be hurting after the 62-40 defeat they got from Provo in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Timpanogos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
