Baseball Game Preview: Mashpee Falcons vs. Carver Crusaders

The Mashpee Falcons will head out to take on the Carver Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Carver took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mashpee, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Mashpee turned things around against Upper Cape Cod RVT on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Rams. The game was the first time the Falcons have beaten the Rams on their field since May 23, 2019.

Gavin Lakatos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Michael McGrail was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jackson Carlson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mashpee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Carver lost 11-5 to Middleborough on Monday. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Teagan Zakrzewski was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The win got Mashpee back to even at 4-4. As for Carver, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Mashpee came up short against Carver in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
