Baseball Game Preview: Warsaw Tigers vs. La Porte Slicers

The Warsaw Tigers will venture away from home to take on the La Porte Slicers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Warsaw knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully La Porte likes a good challenge.

Warsaw barely beat Mishawaka the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Cavemen 10-4 on Thursday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Warsaw got a great performance from Brock Bowser as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Bowser has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Quinton Brock, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 12 games. Grady Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, La Porte got themselves on the board against Portage on Thursday, but Portage never followed suit. They skirted past the Indians 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Slicers have posted since April 19th.

Warsaw pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for La Porte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-15 record this season.
