Basketball Game Preview: Lake Creek Lions vs. Huntsville Hornets

The Lake Creek Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Huntsville Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Lake Creek beat Montgomery 61-48.

Caden Puckett had a dynamite game for Lake Creek, going 9 for 14 on his way to 25 points. Puckett has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jeremiah Mcshan was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Huntsville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 77-67 victory over the Rangers. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Rangers are ranked 479th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Creek's record now sits at 13-14. As for Huntsville, their record now sits at 14-5.

Lake Creek skirted past Huntsville 78-76 in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
