Recap: Banff Bears vs. Humble Christian Cougars
The Banff Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They were beaten by Humble Christian 58-31. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Banff in their matchups with Humble Christian: they've now lost five in a row.
Banff lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anthony Perla, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Perla is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Viet Vo, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Kyron Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with four steals for Humble Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Simpson, who scored 11 points.
Banff bumped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Humble Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Banff will head out on the road to face off against Cornerstone Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Humble Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Annapolis Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Annapolis Christian Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.9 points per game.
