Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montour). Everything went their way against the McKeesport Tigers on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-6 victory. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Cyprian Slifkey, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dalton Young, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Montour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .551. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McKeesport only posted an OBP of .323.

The victory was the third in a row for Montour, bringing their record up to 7-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for McKeesport, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Looking ahead, Montour will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Chartiers Valley at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in the Spartans' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Colts have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for McKeesport, they will venture away from home to face off against Thomas Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
