Baseball Recap: Foundation Academy Starts off Right with Win over Legacy Charter

Foundation Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Legacy Charter Eagles as the Foundation Academy Lions made off with a 19-1 victory. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Ethan Pate made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other pitching news, Drew Calhoun looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Foundation Academy got a big performance out of Joshua Ojeda, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Justin Salvati was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Foundation Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Charter only posted an OBP of .312.

Looking ahead, Foundation Academy will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Montverde Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Legacy Charter, they will face off against Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Legacy Charter is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
