Softball Game Preview: Richland Rams vs. Penn Cambria Panthers

Richland is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They are taking a road trip to square off against the Penn Cambria Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Richland can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Monday. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Windber. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Richland got a big performance out of Addy Matejovich, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Jordan, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Penn Cambria was a bit more limited in their game last Thursday. They lost 11-2 to Forest Hills. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Rangers: they've now lost six in a row.

Autumn Yeoman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Richland was able to grind out a solid win over Penn Cambria when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
