Volleyball Game Preview: Columbus Discoverers vs. Lincoln Southeast Knights

The Columbus Discoverers will square off against the Lincoln Southeast Knights on Thursday. Columbus will be strutting in after a victory while Lincoln Southeast will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Columbus beat Lincoln Northeast 3-1. The Discoverers haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Columbus had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-23, 25-21, 25-12.

Columbus' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Eastyn Luebbe, who had 11 digs and two aces, and Avery Bloebaum, who had 22 assists and seven digs. Those two aces gave Luebbe a new career-high. Brandlyn Gentile also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Southeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pius X.

Lincoln Southeast's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Columbus, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.
