Football Recap: Franklin County Wildcats vs. Batesville Bulldogs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Franklin County can now relate to. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Batesville Bulldogs on Friday. The Wildcats gained 127 more yards on the day, but it was the Bulldogs that made the best use of them.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Seals, who picked up 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Seals showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 63 yards. Quinn Gillman was another key passer, throwing for 369 yards and three touchdowns.

It was another big night for Gage Pohlman, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns for Batesville. Pohlman's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 135 rushing yards. Damien Dance made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Franklin County moved to 7-4 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Batesville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Franklin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Batesville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lawrenceburg at 7:00 p.m. Lawrenceburg will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Batesville surely won't give up without a fight.
