Softball Recap: Bellwood-Antis' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Bellwood-Antis dropped their record down to 8-9 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Bald Eagle Area Eagles, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Bald Eagle Area, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.

For Bald Eagle Area's part, not much got past Sierra Albright, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Bellwood-Antis off the board. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Albright.

At the plate, Taylor Habovick was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexa Baney, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Bellwood-Antis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-2 victory against Huntingdon on the 12th. As for Bald Eagle Area, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Tyrone on the 12th.
