Baseball Recap: Hopkinsville Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hopkinsville and Christian County, and Hopkinsville kept the tradition alive. The Tigers came out on top against the Colonels by a score of 6-2 on Thursday. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Colonels, too.

Chase Fort was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Kellum, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Hopkinsville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Christian County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-11.

Hopkinsville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Colonels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
