Volleyball Recap: Oberlin Starts Season with Victory Against Wickliffe

Oberlin had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Wickliffe Blue Devils with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. The Phoenix were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Blue Devils, so the Phoenix were just returning the favor.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Oberlin took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-12, 25-15.

Oberlin was led to victory by Alyssa Webb and Joanna Tatum. Webb had six kills, five aces, and three blocks, while Tatum had 14 kills and two blocks. That's the most blocks Tatum has posted since back in August of 2024.

Coming up, Oberlin will host Lake Ridge Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wickliffe, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against John F. Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
