Baseball Recap: Ida Baker Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Ida Baker extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 8-7. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Riverdale Raiders. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Brody Root's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ida Baker is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Ida Baker's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tito Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Ely Mora also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Riverdale, they moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. The matchup marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Riverdale's side, Tayt Chili was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Chili a new career-low in walks (zero).

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Ida Baker will head out to square off against Immokalee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Riverdale, they will venture away from home to take on South Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
