Soccer Game Preview: Sheyenne vs. Century

The Sheyenne Mustangs will face off against the Century Patriots on Thursday.

Sheyenne is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Dakota's top teams: West Fargo, who was ranked eighth at the time (Sheyenne was ranked first). Neither the Mustangs nor the Packers could gain the upper hand on Thursday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. Sheyenne's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Century had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They never let the Midgets get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Century's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Sheyenne's draw gives them a new season record of 10-3-2. As for Century, their win bumped their record up to 9-4-2.

Sheyenne suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Century in their previous matchup back in October of 2020. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
