Basketball Recap: Amya Greenwood Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hillsboro had no problem doing just that on Monday. They took down Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran 63-44. Given the Hiltoppers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran are ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillsboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amya Greenwood, who en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those 18 points gave Greenwood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kearstynn Davis, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Hillsboro is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points over those games. Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 18-15.

Hillsboro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-40 loss against Carlinville on the 20th. Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
