Basketball Recap: Tanque Verde Takes a Loss

If Tanque Verde was riding high fresh off their 77-22 takedown of Andrada Polytechnic last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flowing Wells Caballeros on Wednesday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Caballeros apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

Isaias Encinas went supernova For Flowing Wells., going 7-for-17 en route to 18 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. The game was Encinas' fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jose Cureses, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Tanque Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Flowing Wells, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Tanque Verde will face off against Rio Rico at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Flowing Wells, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 76-58 loss against Palo Verde on the 26th.
