Baseball Recap: West Greene Comes Up Short

West Greene extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They lost 17-2 to the Jeannette Jayhawks. If the Pioneers were looking for revenge after losing 11-6 to the Jayhawks when the teams met back in April of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

West Greene saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Grimes, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

As for Jeannette, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

On Jeannette's side, Jayden Kennedy was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Kennedy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI and two doubles. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Amari Thomas was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jeannette is 3-1 when Thomas posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Sunder, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

While West Greene had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
