Basketball Recap: Assumption Comes Up Short

If Assumption was riding high fresh off their 56-32 takedown of Muscatine last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Assumption Knights had to suffer through a 76-22 loss at the hands of the Pleasant Valley Spartans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-43 back in December of 2024.

Assumption now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Pleasant Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Assumption and Pleasant Valley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. Assumption (ranked 130th) will meet Davenport West (ranked 267th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley will face off against Davenport Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 233 places (53 vs. 286).
