Basketball Recap: West Davidson Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

West Davidson and East Burke squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but West Davidson had to settle for second. They took a blow against the East Burke Cavaliers, falling 69-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Dragons have suffered since December 18, 2024.

East Burke was led to victory by Braelyn Stilwell and Kara Brinkley. Stilwell shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten steals, while Brinkley made all 9 shots she took racking up 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Stilwell has been hot for a while, having posted 15 or more points the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Brittain, who posted seven points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for West Davidson and nudges their season record down to 10-13. As for East Burke, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-1.

West Davidson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Burke, they have already played their next matchup, a 64-43 win against Randleman on the 28th.
