Basketball Game Preview: Covenant Classical Cavaliers vs. Fort Worth THESA Riders

The Covenant Classical Cavaliers will venture away from home to square off against the Fort Worth THESA Riders at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Covenant Classical beats Fort Worth THESA with 61 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Covenant Classical pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Terrell on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Meanwhile, Fort Worth THESA waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 50-43. Given the Riders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Lions are ranked 995th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Covenant Classical better focus on containing Jeremiah Krause and David Friedlein as the pair were huge in Fort Worth THESA's win. Krause went 6 for 7 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds, while Friedlein went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim York, who posted four points and four steals.

Covenant Classical's record now sits at 10-7. As for Fort Worth THESA, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Covenant Classical was taken down by Fort Worth THESA 53-25 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Covenant Classical avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
