Pine Island's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on St. Croix Prep with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.

Luke Sems was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. Mason Jasperson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Kasson-Mantorville fell victim to Cannon Falls and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Bombers by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Komets have suffered since May 15, 2024.

Kasson-Mantorville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Graunke, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Kasson-Mantorville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pine Island, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Pine Island beat Kasson-Mantorville 10-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Komets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
