Basketball Recap: Jordan Barnhart and Elijah Stephens Secure Win for Sage Creek

It was a proper cat-fight when Sage Creek duked it out withCoconino on Friday. The Sage Creek Bobcats strolled past the Coconino Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 76-60. The victory was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Sage Creek was led to victory by Elijah Stephens and Jordan Barnhart. Stephens dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 boards, while Barnhart posted 23 points. Stephens' afternoon made it 27 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Naccarato, who put up six points.

Coconino's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Greene, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave Greene a new career-high. Oryon Huayhualla was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.

Sage Creek has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Coconino, they moved to 8-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Sage Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-45 loss against Vista Murrieta on the 4th. As for Coconino, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-54 defeat against Paradise Honors on the 4th.
