Game recap: Scio High School Football Team bests Salem Academy

SALEM, Ore. - Scio (Ore.) put an additional 13 points on the board on top of its 32-point lead going into the fourth quarter to beat out Salem Academy (Salem, Ore.) 51-6.

The Loggers were up 16-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Nathan Jones in the first quarter.

Scio expanded its lead to 32 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored five times in the third, including once on a Jones touchdown run.

With the win the Loggers extended their winning streak to seven games. Scio defeated the Eagles 24-21 last week.

SHS's standout player in the win was Jones. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 18 touchdowns on the season.

The Crusaders' lone touchdown came on a pass in the third quarter.



The Loggers went into the matchup giving up only 13.0 points per game. The six points that Salem Academy ended with were well below its average of 26.3 coming into the game.

The loss comes after Salem Academy defeated Harrisburg 27-24 last week.

In a 3A PacWest game next week Salem Academy (4-4) takes on Pleasant Hill, and Scio (7-1) will go up against Blanchet Catholic also in a 3A PacWest game.
