Volleyball Game Preview: Pueblo South Colts vs. Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans

The Pueblo South Colts will challenge the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pueblo South is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Friday, Pueblo South made easy work of James Irwin and carried off a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Pueblo South was: they took every set by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-11, 25-7.

Pueblo South's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Luke Vasquez, who had ten digs and two aces, and Eryc Heredia, who hit 57.1% for five kills and six digs and five aces. Heredia is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season. Gabriel Archuleta also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Pueblo South was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson suffered their biggest defeat since March 11th on Saturday. They came up short against Douglas County, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 25-17.

Fountain-Fort Carson now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Pueblo South, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
