The Glenbard West Hilltoppers will challenge the St. Charles North North Stars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Glenbard West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Glenbard West is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Bartlett get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.
Not much got past Olivia Salerno, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Bartlett off the board. Salerno has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Shelby Bobroff was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Caroline Semprevivo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Charles North got the win against Rolling Meadows on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-1. The result was nothing new for the North Stars, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Carrigan Rich tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
On the hitting side, Ella Heimbuch was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ivy Gleeson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
St. Charles North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Glenbard West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. As for St. Charles North, their record now sits at 21-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Glenbard West hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like St. Charles North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs.
