Recap: Cocke County Fighting Cocks vs. David Crockett Pioneers
If the Cocke County Fighting Cocks were riding high off their 78-53 takedown of the Cosby Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cocke County took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of David Crockett on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Cocke County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while David Crockett is ranked 60th).
When it comes to explaining why Cocke County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Fine. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Cocke County has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for David Crockett, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
Cocke County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-50 victory vs. Jefferson County on the 9th. David Crockett will head out on the road to face off against Tennessee at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
