Basketball Recap: Xavier Goodlow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Compton over Sonora

Compton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The contest between them and the Sonora Raiders didn't end well, with the Compton Tarbabes falling 77-59. While losing is never fun, the Tarbabes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1114th, while the Raiders are ranked 489th).

Several Tarbabes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Xavier Goodlow, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 20 points and four steals. Goodlow's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Marcus Schorea was another key player, going 9 for 20 en route to 20 points.

Compton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Sonora, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-15.

Compton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-43 loss against Jordan on the 27th. Sonora has also already played their next match, an 80-76 victory against Villa Park on the 28th.
