Baseball Recap: North Salinas Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

North Salinas won against Lynbrook last Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Gonzales Spartans with a sharp 11-2 victory. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Joshua Degroodt was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Hobbs, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

North Salinas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

North Salinas pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Gonzales, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
