Softball Game Preview: Bakersfield Christian Eagles vs. Bakersfield Drillers

For the second straight game, Bakersfield Christian will face off against Bakersfield. The Eagles will face off against the Drillers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bakersfield Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Bakersfield Christian made easy work of Bakersfield and carried off a 10-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Drillers: they've now won six in a row.

Anabell Hinojosa made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 20 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Dakoda Hilvers was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Ellie Chapman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Bakersfield Christian's victory was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bakersfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
