Baseball Game Preview: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. Central Knights

Ponaganset hasn't had much luck against Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chieftains will welcome the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Ponaganset was able to grind out a solid victory over Toll Gate, taking the game 5-2.

Meanwhile, Central faced Narragansett in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Mariners 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The win made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Ponaganset, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.
