Football Preview: West Pioneers vs. East Aces
The West Pioneers are on the road again on Friday to play the East Aces at 7:00 p.m. West will be strutting in after a win while East will be coming in after a defeat.
West's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past North, posting a 64-0 victory on the road.
Colby Eck-Watkins went supernova for West, throwing for 260 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes, while also rushing for 68 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Eck-Watkins also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending two passes. Lee Straughter was in the mix too, providing West with two touchdowns.
West's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 5.5 times. North's QB won't forget Donald Spillman anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Another thorn in North's side was Wayman Kidd, who picked up 1.5 sacks, made six total tackles, and made six total tackles.
Meanwhile, East came up short against Kapaun Mt. Carmel on Friday and fell 27-20. The Aces have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West now has a winning record of 2-1. As for East, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
