Volleyball Recap: Mapleton Falls to Bucyrus

The Mapleton Mounties came up short against the Bucyrus Redmen on Friday and fell 3-1. The Mounties have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mapleton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-19, 25-13, 25-8.

Addison Hess paced Mapleton's offense, picking up 13 kills. Hess really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 19.

Leading Bucyrus to victory were Tayor Saull and Bailey Doles. Saull had 19 digs and three aces, while Doles had 17 digs, six kills, and three aces. Another player making a difference was Reese Garvin, who had 20 digs and an assist.

Mapleton has now lost three of their last four games on the road. That gives them a 3-3 record this season. As for Bucyrus, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4.

Mapleton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Central Christian on the 12th. As for Bucyrus, they will play host again on Monday to welcome Calvert, where the match is scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
