Football Recap: Anaheim Comes Up Short

Anaheim blew Santiago out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Santiago got their revenge. The Colonists fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 20-17. The Colonists were up 17-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why Anaheim lost, don't look at Xavier Aviles. Despite the final result, he picked up 178 receiving yards and one score. Aviles didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended one pass.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Joshua Meza Zavala for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Anaheim; they were averaging 5.3yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 3.2 per game.

Anaheim's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Marco Guerra Jr. with three. Another thorn in Santiago's side was Meza Zavala, who made ten total tackles (4.0 for loss).

This is the second loss in a row for Anaheim and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Santiago, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 3-5.
